Kanazawa (capital of Ishikawa Prefecture in central Japan, around 466 000 people).
Kenroku-en Garden (兼六園). Developed from the 1620s to the 1840s by the Maeda clan who ruled that region at the time (they were ‘daimyos’ or feudal lords). It is considered as one of the three great gardens of Japan.
Kanazawa Castle (金沢市) and surroundings. Ruled by the Maeda clan for 14 generations until 1871.
